Terms of use

Last updated October 18, 2026 (effective date)

Agreement

ProtectYour.com is published by Silicon Valley Ventures. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Information only, not professional advice

The site publishes general information about personal and small-business online security. It is not legal, financial, tax or professional security advice, and it does not create any professional relationship. Following a guide does not guarantee that an account, device or identity will be safe.

If your identity has been stolen, start at IdentityTheft.gov and contact the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). For a specific incident, contact the organization involved, your bank, law enforcement or a qualified professional.

Accuracy

We work to keep guides accurate and show when each was last reviewed, but products, settings, prices and laws change. Content is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. Check important details, such as a company’s current features, prices and terms, on that company’s own site before relying on them.

Third-party products and links

We link to other websites, including affiliate partners described on how we make money. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, products, services or privacy practices. Any purchase you make is a contract between you and that company. Product names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners; mentioning them does not imply endorsement by them.

Intellectual property

The text, design, illustrations and code of this site belong to Silicon Valley Ventures or its licensors. You may link to any page and quote short passages with a link back. Please do not republish whole guides or present our content as your own.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site or its contact form to send spam, malware or unlawful content, to impersonate anyone, to probe or disrupt the site’s security, or to scrape it in a way that degrades service for others. We may block access that breaks these rules.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Silicon Valley Ventures is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, money or profits, arising from use of or reliance on this site or any third-party product or site linked from it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the effective date above shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. Questions go through our contact form.
